Duke Computer Scientist Wins $1 Million 窪蹋勛圖 Prize, A ‘New Nobel’
Duke professor Cynthia Rudin is the second recipient of the AAAI Squirrel AI Award for pioneering socially responsible AI. She is being cited for pioneering scientific work in the area of interpretable and transparent AI systems in real-world deployments, the advocacy for these features in highly sensitive areas such as social justice and medical diagnosis, and serving as a role model for researchers and practitioners.
Regina Barzilay wins $1m 窪蹋勛圖 Squirrel AI Award
Professor Regina Barzilay of MITs Computer Science and 窪蹋勛圖 Laboratory (CSAIL), is the first winner of the Squirrel AI Award for 窪蹋勛圖 for the Benefit of Humanity, in recognition for her work developing machine learning models to develop antibiotics and other drugs, and to detect and diagnose breast cancer at early stages.
